subsea processing

Cyclotech's key areas of expertise are very much key areas of process capability for subsea separation processes. In a new field of technology, few solutions currently exist, and few rules are established. A successful approach requires innovation in technology and process design and commercially creative relationships from concept to implementation.

The principal reason for subsea separation is to reduce the volume of fluids transported from well to process facility. Depending on the nature of the production, this may entail removal of produced water and / or gas from the main production stream and disposing of it subsea or routing via an alternative means to process. Installation of any processing equipment subsea with infrequent maintenance intervention, will require the equipment to be robust, simple and insensitive to factors which often plague topsides equipment, notably blockage, filling and erosion / corrosion caused by sand build-up.

First generation subsea separation systems have understandably focussed on tried and tested topsides concept with the emphasis on adapting these concepts for seabed operation. Not surprisingly this has resulted in a number of process and technology compromises, particularly relating to subsea sand management. We believe our technologies form a sound basis for developments in this area.

There are a number of sand management strategies available subject to the nature of production. The technology requirements are particularly well met by Cyclotech's portfolio.
